Duties and Responsibilities:

(D.I.V.E.) Opportunities STRTP services young woman ages of 12-17 and Non-Minor Dependents (NMDS) with a variety of diagnosis. We are looking to hire a therapist who can provide emergency and routine mental health psychotherapy services to adolescents; and is trained and licensed to treat clients with emotional, behavioral and mental disorders.

  • The right candidate is empathetic, responsible and has a desire to help adolescence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment.
  • Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
  • Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems.
  • Counsel adolescents individually, in group sessions and/ or family sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
  • Responsible for intake and assessment of new residents.
  • Develop and implement’s a Needs and Service Plan based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Meet with parents, probation officers & Opportunities STRTP’s staff in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in clients’ status.
  • Prepares resident for discharge & the paperwork necessary.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

**Social work staff hired on or after January 1, 2017, shall meet the following education and experience requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school, as defined by the Department of Education, in social work or social welfare, marriage, family and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology.
  • Social work staff shall be at least 21 years of age.
  • Completion of at least three semester units or 100 days of field practice or experience in a public or private social service agency at the master’s degree level.
  • At least nine semester units of coursework related to children and families, or 18 months experience in working with children and families.
  • At least three semester units in working with minority populations; six months of experience in working with minority population; or six months in-service training in working with minority populations within the first year of employment as a condition of employment.
  • At least three semester units in child welfare, or two years’ experience in a public or private child welfare social services setting.
  • Pass a fingerprinted criminal history background check.
  • Pass a physical exam which includes a T.B. test and drug screen.

 

Special Skills Needed:

  • Background in delivering Trauma Informed Care
  • Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills required.

 

Working Hours: Mon – Fri / Time varies due to clients’ availability. (On Call)
